AURORA - One person was taken to the hospital on Wednesday evening after a car went into the path of a fire truck that was responding to a call.

Aurora Police say it happened at 6th Avenue and Oakland Street around 5:15 p.m.

The fire truck was responding to an accident involving a car and a pedestrian at 6th and Havana Street.

A woman was driving a Toyota westbound on 6th and she tried to go around cars that had slowed down for the fire truck. She then saw the fire truck, and in an attempt to avoid it, sideswiped two other cars. That impact sent her car into the path of the fire truck. The fire truck hit the Toyota head on.

The driver was taken to the hospital and there were no other injuries.

Charges are pending against the driver and investigators are trying to determine if alcohol played a role in the crash.
