DENVER - Some were left high and dry and others jobless as Student Movers closed its doors last week saying it couldn't go on in this economy.
On Friday, we learned Denver-based Buehler Moving and Storage has plans to acquire Student Mover's assets as soon as next week, retaining 95 percent of the company's laid-off workers, as well as helping customers who are left in limbo following the closure.
Buehler Mayflower has operated out of Denver for the past 100 years.
Current Owner Stuart Smith showed 9NEWS the warehouse off of Colorado Boulevard near Interstate 70 that will become the new home for Students Movers as soon as the sale goes through.
"They do a lot of local moving and it's a great mix for our business and it helps out the customers that are there, and we feel like they have a lot of great employees so it's going to be a chance to increase our employee count and take care of their employees and make sure the name of the company goes on, " Smith said.
If you're a Student Mover's customer and this is the first you're hearing about this, Smith says his company is in the process of making contact with everyone about the buyout. He also says, even though the name will not change, customers will see a big difference in the way Buehler runs its business.
