Judge Michael Hegarty Wednesday rejected 35-year-old Jamshid Muhtorov attorney's request that secret wiretapping and electronic monitoring evidence be thrown out for the purposes of granting bail.
He agreed with federal prosecutors who had argued on Tuesday that Muhtorov is a danger to the community and a flight risk. Prosecutors say the disaffected former human rights worker who lived in Aurora bought a one-way ticket to Turkey as part of his effort to support the Islamic Jihad Union.
The defense says Muhtorov's actions were taken out of context and Muhtorov had planned to visit family in the region.
