AURORA - Police say a man was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday evening when he collided with a car that was stopped in a center lane while an adult and children were crossing the street.

Police say the man was riding a 2009 Black Suzuki GSX when he ran into the back of a 2005 Black Nissan Pathfinder on East Iliff Avenue about 5:10 p.m. The driver was taken to the hospital where he later died. No one in the Pathfinder was injured.

Police say they had received reports that two motorcycles were driving recklessly southbound on I-225 north of East Iliff Avenue late this afternoon. Shortly after, calls came in about the crash, before officers had even arrived. Witnesses report the other motorcyclist drove around the car that was stopped and kept going.

Police say they believe speed contributed to the accident. They do not yet know if drugs or alcohol were factors.

The Aurora Police Department is trying to identify the rider of the other motorcycle and is asking that person to contact police.
