Thirty-five fifth grade girls participated in Girls with Goals day which allowed one girl from each senate district in the state to shadow their senator.
The girls were sworn in as youth senators for the day, toured the Capitol and participated in a mock session to discuss bills the girls had proposed.
Two of them received scholarships of just over $400 as well as a savings account to help them learn how to save for college.
