Spokeswoman Sara Brady said Wednesday evening that Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee met with City Manager Norton Bonaparte to discuss his termination. But Brady said the two men didn't work out details, and she couldn't confirm whether Lee still technically worked for the city. Messages left for Bonaparte and other Sanford officials weren't immediately returned.
Lee took a leave of absence in March and offered his resignation in April. The city council rejected Lee's resignation by a 3-2 vote.
Neighborhood-watch volunteer George Zimmerman was later charged with second-degree murder in Martin's Feb. 26 shooting death. Zimmerman claims self-defense and has pleaded not guilty.
