The President held a rally attended by 13,000 supporters on the quad of the University of Colorado campus.
The event looked and sounded very similar to a stop last Tuesday at Colorado State University on Fort Collins, though the President spent some of this speech reacting to the RNC.
"It was a re-run," Obama said of the Republican convention. "It could have been on Nick at Nite. We've seen it before. You might as well have watched it on a black and white TV with some rabbit ears."
Though Republican challenger Mitt Romney has criticized the President's economic policies, the President says he has not gone into specifics on how to do better.
"When Governor Romney finally had a chance to reveal the secret sauce he did not offer a single new idea," the President said. "It was just retreads of the same old policies we've been hearing for decades. The same policies that have been sticking it to the middle class for years."
The President also responded to the positive characterization of Romney's business experience presented in Tampa.
"My opponent likes to tout his private sector experience and he was incredibly successful." the President said. "Clearly disciplined, hardworking, but keep in mind that his experience was investing in companies that were called pioneers in the business of outsourcing jobs."
Gov. John Hickenlooper (D-Colo.) spoke to the crowd ahead of the President's remarks.
Hickenlooper will deliver a speech at the Democratic convention on Wednesday night. The President is scheduled to accept his party's nomination Thursday.
The President's visit disrupted some traffic along US 36 between Boulder and Denver Sunday afternoon.
Before the rally the President dropped into The Buff Restaurant to shake hands with people. He ordered a breakfast skillet.
Romney supporters held a counter-demonstration nearby and shouting erupted between supporters of the opposing campaigns as the crowd let out.
Mitt Romney was not holding public events Sunday. He was in the middle of a three day session to prepare for the debates.
The first debate on October 3 will be held at the University of Denver.
