This year's address will be freed of the drama surrounding Clinton's convention speech four years ago, when his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, had just lost to Obama in a bruising primary battle littered with hard feelings.

Last night, Michelle Obama used her convention speech to frame her husband as a president who knows the struggles of everyday Americans because he endured them himself.

She recalled that Barack Obama drove a rust-bucket on early dates and once rescued a rescued coffee table from the trash. The first lady also told delegates that she had "seen firsthand that being president doesn't change who you are, it reveals who you are."
