Routt County Search and Rescue crews spent Wednesday night on a unique mission.

Incident commander Kristia Check-Hill says a Texas man came to them with concerns over the whereabouts of a 79-year-old local fisherman.

He told officials after spending the day with him he went ahead to find the lake, leaving his three llamas with the elderly man.

When he returned the man and llamas were gone.
Search crews went out to the Summit Lake area on Buffalo Pass where the man was last seen. Crews eventually found the three llamas, but still haven't contacted the man.

Commander Check-Hill tells 9NEWS because the 79-year-old's motorcycle was also missing, they've temporarly called off the search.

Check-Hill says he likely got tired of waiting and went home.
