"We are selling the home for 1.5 million dollars everything included. There are a lot of original features in the home and even paintings that we're hoping the new owner will preserve," Ken O'Donnell managing broker with Relogic said.

The home at 515 E. Iliff Ave, near Iliff and Logan, once belonged to S.R. DeBoer, who designed the Red Rocks Amphitheater and the Denver Botanic Gardens as well as a number of Denver's signature thoroughfares like Speer Boulevard.

"DeBoer was the primary designer of for several different projects in and around the city. He also brought zoning to Denver. It was the third city in the nation with zoning," O'Donnell said.

DeBoer's property was the subject of a spirited argument about whether his heirs could tear down the home and build something else there. Eventually, the home was designated an historic landmark, which places restrictions on what can be done with the property.

The heirs to the estate ended up selling part of the property which was turned into single-family homes, but the home DeBoer lived in and his office were preserved. Historians say the front part of his estate cannot be changed with out permission from the Denver Landmark Preservation Committee.

The estate will officially be on the market Friday morning at 10:00am.
