Eagle County Sheriff's spokeswoman Jessie Mosher tells the Glenwood Springs Post Independent that the shootings occurred shortly before noon Saturday.

Authorities declined to say who fired the shots but stressed that there was no continuing threat in the Missouri Heights subdivision outside El Jebel.

The two were found outside a home. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man died after being rushed to a hospital.
