The stair climb is an untimed walk aimed at using physical activity to honor those who died. The route is designed to equate to 110 stories, the height of the World Trade Center's Twin Towers.
At Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the route began at the upper south parking lot, ascended the south ramp and took participants around nine counter-clockwise laps in the amphitheatre.
The pre-climb ceremony began at 8:46 a.m.. The climb began at 9:02 a.m. following a moment of silence and a performance of Amazing Grace.
