Four permits have been obtained and one of those homes is near completion.
"For the last ten weeks, it's like you're living under a remodel," Beverly Bender said, who lives in the Mountain Shadows community.
Bender and her family evacuated when the wildfire spiraled out of control. Her home was left untouched, but flames crept in to her backyard.
"It was like living in a disaster movie," she said. "The fire literally burned up in our backyard to our lot line at a right angle".
Right below Bender's home, a couple of other houses burned to the ground. One was only a hundred feet away.
"It was the scariest thing I've ever been through," Bender said.
Firefighters were able to save 80 percent of the homes in Bender's community. The 20 percent that were destroyed are showing signs of coming back to life.
Many people plan to rebuild next spring.
Some people have decided to move out of the community altogether.
