The Daily Camera reports the City Council plans to vote this fall on the first reading of an ordinance establishing the fee.
As proposed, the fee would apply to all disposable checkout bags at grocery and convenience stores.
If approved, it would take effect in July. The goal is to get shoppers to use reusable bags.
The City Council had voted in May to adopt an unspecified fee on plastic and paper disposable bags.
Aspen is among towns that have adopted a similar fee.
