First held in 1959, the US Open of Surfing held in Huntington Beach, California, has become the biggest stage in competitive professional surfing. It attracts the most elite male and female athletes in the sport from around the globe in a weeklong battle for the coveted US Open of Surfing title.
The Open is a pivotal point toward the Association of Surfing Professional World Tour.
On the female side, fans will see Hawaiians Carissa Moore and Malia Manuel, American Lakey Peterson and Aussie Sally Fitzgibbons.
The male competitors will include Brazilians Gabriel Medina and Adriano De Souza and Aussie Julian Wilson. The Open will be telecast at noon on Saturday, September 15th on NBC and Channel 9.
