"[I've got a] little over half way [to go]," Heim said. "[I] only have 60 days left."
It's a journey taking heart and determination as Rae hits the nation's highways in her bare feet.
"Ninety five percent of the time I don't wear shoes when it's humanly possible," Heim said.
It's all to raise awareness and collect donations for Souls4Souls, an organization that takes donations of gently used shoes, and gives them to poor people in 128 countries around the world and the U.S.
"Every dollar that gets donated - a kid will get a pair of shoes," Heim said.
It's something Rae has put her sweat and blood into. But, she says it's more than worth it knowing how far a pair shoes can take a child.
"There's a lot of positive people and kind people," Heim said. "I think the world is a good place."
