It happened around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on West Colfax.
The Colorado State Patrol says a Chevy truck was going eastbound in the westbound lanes when it struck another pick-up truck head-on.
The two vehicles caught fire, killing the wrong way driver who was trapped in the cab. The occupants of the other truck, a father and son, were not seriously injured.
Witnesses say several people were trying to extinguish the flames and free the trapped driver, but the intense heat forced them back.
Investigators believe that the explosive fire was likely caused by the crash. Right now there is no way to identify the driver of the Chevy, or determine what led the driver to end up on the wrong side of the road.
