City officials say drought conditions and wildfires in the Cache la Poudre River watershed left Poudre River water unusable for most of the summer, limiting the city's supplies.

The city has other water sources, but it says it can keep more water in reservoirs for use for the winter if residents agree to limit lawn watering by Oct. 1.
