Officials are hoping the twice-suspended project can resume this fall, but plans are still under review.
According to the Aspen Daily News, the city-backed geothermal project has been in progress for years, with the local government hoping to tap the renewable energy source to heat homes.
Last fall, the first effort was canceled because of opposition. On the second try, a contractor drilled more than 1,000 feet, but didn't hit water.
