A crew installed the first of 56 new sirens today in Green Valley Ranch. Precise locations for all the rest is still being finalized.
Denver is also improving another 21 sirens with new technology that allows the city to offer more specific warnings for different parts of the city.
The sirens will sound the same as before, but they're solar-powered and can be tested using two-way radio communications to make sure they're working properly.
All the sirens should be up and working by January.
