9NEWS Meteorologist Marty Coniglio recorded around 2,000 lightning strikes an hour during the height of the storm. One of those struck a man in the 3600 block of South Ivanhoe Street just before 9:00 p.m.

The man was leaving the Hebrew Educational Alliance when he was struck. Witnesses quickly performed CPR and revived him before he was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.

The weather may have also been to blame for stranding RTD light-rail passengers around 9:30 p.m. RTD said a downed power line stopped trains on the E and F lines, south of Belleview. The service resumed within the hour.

Earlier in the day, and band of storms dumped heavy rain around Fort Collins, flooding streets and creating delays during the evening rush hour.

Rain was falling at a rate of up to one inch per hour as it swept through the metro area.
