David Monahan and Jamison Gulden are in the process of opening Fort Collins' first distillery called Feisty Spirits at 1708 E. Lincoln Ave.
The pair has obtained their state and federal licenses and are making small batches of various assortments of whiskey such as wheat, rye, oat and millet whiskeys.
Wednesday, Monahan leaned over an array of Bell Jars filled with various clear whiskeys.
"With the craft culture in this town it just made sense," said Monahan of the planned distillery. "I like the aspect of the high tech instruments."
Feisty Spirits already has one high tech 60 gallon Canadian artisan still that is awaiting installation so they can start commercially distilling. Once operational, the still will produce between 3,000 to 3,500 cases of whiskey per year.
