Colorado's 3rd Congressional District includes Grand Junction, Durango, Pueblo as well as some of the Eastern Plains. This year's election between Republican Scott Tipton and Democrat Sal Pace is expected to be very close. Tipton defeated Democrat John Salazar two years ago.

Tipton and Pace both served in the Colorado State House before deciding to run for the 3rd Congressional District of Colorado. This seat is one of the highly-targeted races in the country for parties because it will have a large say in which party will have the most representatives in the House.

Right now, there is 240 Republicans in the House of Representatives and 190 Democrats. Whomever wins Colorado's 3rd Congressional District could potentially narrow that gap.

Pace is expected to win his hometown of Pueblo where both President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney have campaigned in. But, Tipton is expected to win Grand Junction, which has a high population of conservatives.
