Crews have been diligently working for the past five days on transforming Magness Arena into a global stage where President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney will debate on Wednesday night.

They have been working on everything from generators to lighting and painting. The Commission on Presidential Debates says they want to make sure everything is comfortable and perfect for the candidates.

"We're getting the AC ready the wiring, the internet. the generator. [We're] making sure we have back up to the back up," said Peter Eyre, senior advisor for the Commission on Presidential Debates. "Starting on Sunday morning, we will bring in the new set."

Eyre says the new set will be built and ready to go by Monday. Tuesday will be a full day of run-throughs to make sure everything is running smoothly. Eyre says there will be another practice run on Wednesday, just before the debates start.

Administrators at DU say many parts of campus will be fenced and roads will be blocked off. They're encouraging anyone who doesn't need to be on campus to stay away from the area.

David Danushevsky is the general manager for Crimson and Gold Tavern. His bar is located just blocks away from DU. He says he and his staff is ready to welcome the new faces that will be in town for the event.

"We're really excited to have the debates so close to us," Danushevsky said. "We know that secret service could probably come in at any time and say close your doors. We understand that, but we're hoping that doesn't happen."

Many neighbors who live around the campus are also bracing themselves for the closures and crowds. Tim White says he's well aware maneuvering around the area will be difficult.

"I don't think I'll be too frustrated," White said. "I feel like it's a good thing. You wouldn't want it every day of your life, but I think it's worth the sacrifice."

The Commission on Presidential Debates says production is on track and will be ready by Wednesday. The organization is also warning people about a debate ticket scam. They say tickets cannot be sold or purchased, admission is by invitation only and any other ticket will not be valid.
