Colorado State Patrol pulled over a vehicle around 11:20 a.m. The driver ran off. The woman in the passenger's seat told troopers she had been carjacked.

Authorities set up a search perimeter near Bowles and Kipling in Littleton, believing their suspect was armed with a handgun.

"She made it all up," Ty Countryman, a Lakewood police spokesman told the Denver Post.
