A new study challenges the conventional wisdom that sharing chores reduces the odds of divorce.

Researchers in Norway looked at data on thousands of Norwegian adults to determine possible links between marriage, housework and happiness.

They found divorce rates were actually higher for couples who split the housework equally than for couples where women did more or all the housework.

Researchers say it could be because women who split the chores have more financial independence to leave an unhappy marriage.
