Colorado River Fire Rescue Chief Mike Morgan says no evacuations had been ordered as of Wednesday afternoon.
The fire was reported just before 1 p.m. and grew to more than 100 acres in 20 mph winds with gusts up to 40 mph. The fire had closed part of Colorado Highway 13, but Morgan says the fire is moving away from the road.
The cause of the fire hasn't been determined, but Morgan says it is likely human caused.
Three water tenders, eight engines and a helicopter were on the scene, with more resources ordered.
