The woman, Brenda Geers, told officers she had gone to the church for an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.
Police say Geers was driving a 1998 Toyota 4Runner when she entered the parking lot of St. Aidan's Episcopal Church and hit a food truck.
Geers then hit 18-year-old Eric Anderson, a student at the University of Colorado, as he was sitting alone at a table near the church, according to police.
The Toyota 4Runner then continued on and hit with the covered entryway of the church building.
Anderson was transported to the hospital with with a punctured lung and broken ribs.
Geers was arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault, DUI and DUI Per Se.
