In a live newscast, Livingston addressed the email by talking about her appearance, then standing up to the attacks.

"I am overweight. You could call me fat, and yes, even obese on a doctor's chart," Livingston said. "But, I am much more than a number on a scale." 

She also put a positive spin on the attack by using it as an example for the type of conduct kids should shy away from and parents should look for - bullying.

"That man's words mean nothing to me. What angers me about this is that they are kids that don't know better, who get emails as critical as the one I just received, or in many cases, worse," Livingston said. "We need to teach our kids to be kind, not critical, and we do that by example."
