The lawsuit against Cinemark alleges the theater posed a dangerous risk to customers because it was the scene of previous crimes, including a gang shooting.

It also notes a lack of security and accuses the theater of failing to properly help evacuate people from the shooting scene in Auditorium 9.

The defendants of the case are seeking punitive damages.

The Napoli Bern Ripka Shkolnik, LLP law firm, along with the Boulder Colorado law firm, Frascona, Joiner, Goodman & Greenstein, P.C. are working together in the lawsuit against Cinemark.

Napoli Bern Ripka Shkolnik recently settled the claims of more than 10,000 first responders sickened by toxic exposures at the site of the World Trade Center following the 9/11 attacks.
