'Squirrel baby boom' behind critter increase

In 2012, more squirrels were spotted gathering nuts to get ready for winter.

Biologists say it's due to a "squirrel baby boom" in the northeastern United States.

The main cause may be a perfect storm of nice weather and plenty of food to fuel the frisky rodents.

Homeowners are not the only ones dealing with squirrel issues. Farmers say the critters have wreaked havoc with their crops too.
