After wounding the guard, a man in a van with Washington license plates killed himself. Names of the guard and the man have not been released, and the motive for the shooting is unknown.

The third busiest crossing on the Canadian border has been closed since the shooting at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

The British Columbia travel information agency DriveBC says on its website the estimated reopening time for the crossing is 4 p.m. Wednesday.
