It happened Monday evening as the victim was walking home from a friend's house in the 8200 block of West Toller Avenue, near Falcon Bluffs Middle School.

Mark Techmeyer with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says the kid noticed he was being followed before the suspect said anything to him.

"The car stopped and the man said 'hey, come here!'" Techmeyer said. "The kid took off running and the suspect ran after him. He was able to actually catch the boy and he struggled back and forth and was able to get free and then ran home."

In the wake of Jessica Ridgeway's murder and Monday's attempted abduction, a lot of people are on guard.

"It's just really scary," Lucas Peppers said. "I walk to school, but now I won't walk alone at night."

A letter explaining the incident was sent home to Jefferson County School District parents.

The suspect is described as a white male, 35-40 years old, about 200 pounds with medium salt and pepper hair. The vehicle was described as a dark blue or black sedan.

If anyone has information about this case, they are asked to call the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office tip line at 303-271-5612.
