Their campaigns have dumped tens of millions of dollars into advertisements on Colorado airwaves. It's all because they are in a statistical dead heat and are pulling out all the stops to try and sway voters.

9NEWS Legal Analyst Floyd Ciruli says because the polls are so close, the candidate visits and political ads are only going to increase.

"They need every vote they can get," he said.

Colorado only has nine electoral votes, but Ciruli says those nine are in high demand.

"Neither candidate can figure out how to get 270 electoral votes," Ciruli said. "Clearly they can see themselves getting 260 or 261. They need nine electoral votes."

According to the Washington Post, the campaigns have spent nearly $50 million on 93,000 TV ads across Colorado since April.
