It's a new safety information app for mobile devices and it's called the Wildfire App.

Patricia Billinger of the Red Cross said the app's information comes from emergency managers who put the information into a system. "So you have a description of the fire and how big it is and you can look and see when it was last updated by those incident managers."

The app has a Blaze Tracker that also shows you where a fire is burning on a map. "You can search for fires within 100 miles of your location. Or, you can set up a location for a loved one," Billinger said.

Billinger said one of the most important features of the app is its ability to help prepare the user for a disaster. The more prepared you are, the better and more resilient you're going to be. You're going to get through a disaster more easily. There is even an emergency checklist to go through before a disaster, during a disaster and tips for recovery. We also have a plan, you can fill out your emergency plan in this app with steps to take and you can use that for any disaster," Billinger said.

The app is free and can be found in Apple's App Store or on Google Play.
