In a new heavily redacted court document released Monday afternoon, the defense team led by the public defender's office and attorney Daniel King, laments that too much information was redacted from pages 14,332 through 16,522 of the discovery given to them from the Arapahoe County District Attorney's Office.

Included in the redacted "discovery" were several pages of personal information that was on a cell phone obtained by investigators after it was reported to them the phone had text messages from Holmes.

The name and gender of the person who owned the cell phone has been redacted.

The 2,275 pages of data includes "great amounts of information that is irrelevant to this case," according to the paperwork released Monday.

The defense is complaining that prosecutors, instead of asking the court for guidance on how to handle the large amounts of "irrelevant" information to the case, called the owner of the cell phone and said they would redact that information because they believed the defense team would "misuse this information and would harass friends and family if they obtained it."

The defense is now asking for un-redacted accounts of exactly what was in that witnesses' cell phone.
