Sergeant Joe Tymkowych with Greeley police said 19-year-old Robert Eugene Sandoval, from Evans, began his crime spree in Western Greeley near the Sears at the Greeley mall.
Police say Sandoval tried more than a dozen cars before finding a Mitsubishi Eclipse with keys in it. Sandoval then took that Eclipse on a very expensive joyride, according to officers.
The damage began at the Sears store. Police say Sandoval drove his stolen sedan through the store, stole some merchandise, then continued to drive right through the front doors of Bittersweet Liquors.
Sandoval's final stop was at a nearby US Bank, where officers say he drove in one side and out the other, causing at least $40,000 in damage.
Greeley police located the stolen vehicle on 35th Avenue heading out of the city shortly before it crashed. Sandoval remains in the hospital and will face multiple charges after he is released.
