The officer was responding to a call in Parker when his patrol car struck the animal near East Stroh Rd. and South Parker Road. The vehicle careened off the right side of the road onto a sidewalk and hit a tree. The deer was killed.

The trooper suffered minor to moderate injuries and was taken to Littleton Adventist Hospital in Littleton, Reid said.

"He is doing all right," said Reid, who wouldn't identify the trooper.
