In a night that both team's offense struggled to score due to superb goaltending, it was fitting that it came down to a shootout to decide the state championship. Tied at 2-2 in the shootout, Colorado Academy was trying to avoid watching another team hoist up the championship trophy for a second straight year. As Mandy Weeks took the final shot, she was unaware that she had just won her team the state title after the ball struck the back of the net. Once she turned around, she was greeted by her team and a stampede of fans to celebrate their thrilling 3-2 shootout victory to win the State Championship.
