A cancer survivor himself, Karl made his comments Friday morning prior to the team's game with the Washington Wizards.
Asked how he felt now that Armstrong has admitted to doping, Karl responded:
"That's a hard question, and I think a little bit of an unfair question. Do I support him as a person that has done a tremendous job for cancer research and cancer navigation? Hell yes, I do. And I want Livestrong to survive, and I don't know if he is going to be a part of that or not, but I want his mission to continue."
He added, "I don't want to play judge and jury on this one."
Karl was diagnosed with neck and throat cancer in 2010. Karl is now in remission.
