ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - Pitkin County water regulators have rejected a request for $25,000 to upgrade a 50-year-old wastewater plant.

The Pitkin County Healthy Rivers and Streams Board says it would set a bad precedent for other districts if they provide the money.

According to the Aspen Daily News, the plant that serves 450 people at Aspen Village includes three lagoons where about 34,000 gallons a day of wastewater flows in for treatment before being released into the Roaring Fork River.
