COLORADO SPRINGS - A Howler monkey who escaped from her enclosure at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is back in captivity.
The young female, Eva, has only been at the zoo for a little over a month.
According to a spokesperson for the zoo, around 2 p.m. on Saturday, Eva was able to pull back the mesh of her enclosure, escape the outdoor habitat and climb on the roof of the monkey habitat.
Zoo handlers were able to use a net to capture Eva and put her back in her enclosure.
The public was evacuated from the area while she was on the loose.
The zoo is investigating the incident to see if any changes need to made to the primate exhibit.
