KUSA - WWE has been taken to a whole new level.
The world of arena combat meets the latest technology in the new show Robot Combat League.
Airing on Syfy, the show features 12 state-of-the-art robots and 24 contestants.
The contestants are paired into 12 teams made up of a "robo-jockey" and a "robo-tech." Each team has its own robot, which the jockey controls wearing a high-tech suit that translates their exact movements.
Hosted by WWE superstar Chris Jericho, Robot Combat League contestants fight with their robots to the death while competing for a $100,000 cash prize. Similar to WWE, the eight-foot tall robots meet in the ring for tournament-style battles.
The "robo-jockeys" and "robo-techs" come from diverse backgrounds including a racecar driver, an Olympic athlete, a National Guard helicopter pilot and a variety of professional fighters and software engineers.
All-new episodes air on Syfy on Tuesdays at 10/9c. To see photo galleries of the robots and contestants, along with complete bios, visit www.syfy.com/robotcombatleague.
