  • Miami International Airport: Its 600-plus Yelp reviews only gave it 2 out of 5 stars. But the airport has more than 88 social amenities, restaurants and bars. And on-time departure rates are around 76% to 77%. The organizers of the survey point out that it draws an interesting international crowd as the largest gateway between the U.S. and Latin America.
  • Orlando International Airport: This airport got the top spot because it has 54 restaurants, bars and other social amenities. But what really put it over the top is that it's got an on-site Hyatt Regency Hotel within the main terminal that bills itself as "much more than just a place to stay before a flight." The hotel offers a convenient day room rate for travelers just passing through.
  • Newark International Airport: Survey respondents said they had some of the longest delays at this airport. Not surprising given how congested New York City airspace is. Newark's proximity to New York was another reason it landed in the top 5. Its location attracts a variety of travelers from Wall Street honchos to supermodels to international men and women of mystery. At the very least, it makes for good people-watching.
  • Philadelphia International Airport: The City of Brotherly Love apparently also has an airport of Brotherly Love. There are 16 bars, seven lounges, 57 restaurants, and one magic shop, according to survey organizers. Based on the survey, 65% of respondents said Philadelphia had their favorite airport to meet people because of delayed flights, its large size, its proximity to the tri-state region, and its friendly locals.
  • Logan International Airport: Boston's airport does not have that many amenities. What it does have a lot of is bad weather–snow, blizzards, etc. And lots of passengers. When you get stuck at Logan, you're really stuck. But you're never alone.
