DENVER - In partnership with the Public Education and Business Coalition (PEBC), CenturyLink is connecting teachers with technology in Colorado classrooms.
The company is for teachers who want to innovatively implement technology in their classrooms to increase student achievement.
This year's program makes more than $145,000 available in grants to Colorado K-12 teachers. The deadline for applications is April 19, 2013.
"Colorado's bright future starts with a great education, and CenturyLink is very proud to be working with PEBC to recognize our teachers who innovate with technology in the classroom," said Scott Russell, vice president and general manager for CenturyLink in Denver and Northern Colorado.
"By encouraging K-12 teachers to utilize and integrate technology into the classroom, we hope to see improvements in student achievement and create a better future for Colorado."
Past CenturyLink Teachers & Technology winners have utilized their grants in a number of diverse, creative ways.
One past winner used the classroom grant to purchase digital cameras, laptops and a color printer for a student multimedia art project focused on telling the story of their lives. Another winner purchased sound field amplification technologies to assist in teaching hearing-impaired and special needs students. And another purchased robotic devices to incorporate into science curriculum and science elective courses.
