ARAPAHOE COUNTY - The judge in the Aurora theater shooting case dealt the James Holmes defense team a blow on Friday in issuing a ruling that disputes their claims that Colorado's laws on the insanity plea are unconstitutional.
In a lengthy ruling made public on Friday, Judge William Sylvester said that the defense claims of the unconstitutionality of the laws regarding the insanity plea. In it he said that the statutes are not unconstitutional and do not violate the defendant's rights.
The defense team had argued that the laws violated Holmes rights on several counts.
