KUSA - Do you have your Just In Case Kit prepared?
With a large snowstorm setting its sights on Colorado, Carole Walker, executive director for the Rocky Mountain Insurance Information Association, gave 9NEWS viewers some advice on how to get ready for it.
Her kit includes jumper cables, heavy duty gloves, rain poncho, flash light, batteries, road cone, tow cable and first aid supply.
"In addition, windshield wiper fluid, a blanket, shovel, boots and a jug of water. These are all things you can compile yourself or pick up at the hardware store," Walker said. "If you want to go the extra mile you can carry kitty litter or sand in case you get stuck. Also make sure your phone is fully charged."
She reminded viewers to always have a notepad and a pen in their glove compartments, in the event they get into a wreck and need to exchange information. Always take photos on your cellphone of the crash scene too.
