DENVER - Denver police say a young boy was transported to Denver Health with serious bodily injuries after being struck by a car.
It happened near North Speer Boulevard and Grove Street around 5 p.m. Thursday.
Police say the toddler was chasing a ball into the street when a woman driving a Suburban struck the child. The driver tried to swerve but could not avoid hitting the boy, police say.
The boy suffered serious head injuries.
The vehicle involved stayed at the scene, according to police. So far, she has not been charged with anything.
Neighbors say the house where the boy lives has a lot of kids that play in a very small yard on a hill close to the street.
