Basketball: Pueblo South outlasts Broomfield in overtime

Pueblo South beat Broomfield 53-50 (OT) in a 4A Final 4 matchup Thursday in Boulder.

The Cyclones appeared to be in control up 10 with less than 3 minutes to play. But a 12-0 run from Broomfield put the Eagles up 42-40 in the final seconds. South forced overtime with a buzzer beating lay up from Mikala Gordon.

Shannon Patterson drove the court and found Gordon inside for the game tying basket. The Cyclones never trailed again.

Patterson led all scorers with 16 points. Gordon had 14.

The Cyclones will face D'Evelyn in the final and attempt to win the schools 5th girls state basketball title and 1st since 1994.

Broomfield finishes their season with a 25-2 record. The Cyclones enter the championship game with a 25-2 record.
