Loveland firefighter to retire after drinking charge

LOVELAND - A Loveland Fire Rescue Authority Division Chief has submitted a request for retirement after being accused of responding to a fire while under the influence of alcohol.

Merlin Green is charged with driving while ability impaired.

Loveland police say Green failed roadside sobriety tests after driving his department vehicle to a fire on Sunday at Fatso's Restaurant.

Police say Green blew a .074 during a breath test. The legal limit for DUI in Colorado is .08, but you can be charged with DWAI with a .05 or lower.
